Give a Kid a Drum is a movement/culture promoting existing drummers and percussionists to share their unused drums and percussion instruments with young aspiring musician/drummers/percussionists
Hi, my name is Jeff Lewallen and started my drum journey over 50 years ago as a child. First was pots and pans with wooden spoons, then a few toy drum sets, and finally my first real drum (snare) when I joined my school band program at age 11. Fortunately my parents although very blue collar were able to purchase that first drum ( a Premier chrome snare drum) which I still have in my collection to this day.
…fast forward to 2025
Looking back on those beginnings into my musical performance journey it was a start that many young people don’t always have the opportunity to experience.
